CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY

Public libraries are truth tellers. Now, more than ever, educational and personal truths are being silenced with book bans and less funding. The annual Chicago Public Library Foundation Awards event is instrumental in helping garner support for these magical, transformative, (and free) cultural centers in Chicago.

As the lead writer, I worked alongside a team of designers to strike a balance between modern and heartfelt creative that would appeal to the public in a soulful way. Sure, we wanted to bring in more attendees, but we also wanted to keep the work more human-centric at its core. “Share the story you were born to tell” evolved out of a manifesto written to remind every person in this city that the stories inside them are worth bringing to life—and should never be silenced.

Your story is bigger than you could ever imagine.

The world holds its breath, wondering what you will do next.

Plan your plot twists with intention—this is your chance

to become something greater than you were yesterday.

To give space for your story to expand.

Take all the room you need, but don’t keep the world waiting.

Now is the time

to share the story you were born to tell.
